SNOWSPORTS

Boulder Pass, Banff National Park

The first vivid memory I have of anything snowsports related was cross country skiing in grade 6 during a school trip to Magog, Quebec.

It’d be another 20 years before I picked up another pair of skis. This time, they were downhill skis but it wasn’t until I moved to Canmore, Alberta that I became infatuated with snowsports like a kid in a candy store. And just like a kid in a candy store, I tried them all! Skate skiing, classic, downhill, slackcountry, backcountry. I even spent a season learning how to telemark. At one point, I had 10 pairs of skis in my closet!

With that being said, the one activity I enjoyed the most was backcountry touring. I started with ultralight Dynafit gear but eventually transitioned to NNN-BC gear as I started doing less in the alpine.

Now that I’m back in Ontario, I’ll probably do more nordic than anything if I’m motivated enough to drive 1hr to get out of Toronto alone. But if I do, I’ll post my trips below.
